Emerald Ash Borer Beetles emerge in the spring and lay eggs.
When the eggs hatch, larvae chew through the bark and start
feeding or tunneling underneath the bark. This critically
damages the vascular system of the tree. Once the system is
damaged and begins to show signs of borer infestation (see
figures below) in most cases it's too late to save the tree. Since
the vascular system is the venue in which therapeutic
chemicals are spread through the tree, it must be sufficiently in
tact in order for the chemicals to work.
This is precisely why we are recommending that you treat your
Ash tree now before it's too late. Taking this preventative
approach may help save your Ash Tree in the very near future.
